Hi, my name is Rylan. I've been getting my haircut from Sarah at the Knapps Corner Lady Janes for six years. I'm 17 and I have autism and Tourette syndrome and I've overcome a lot in my life to fit in and get through school since my brain works so differently from other kids my age. I've published a book called, "If I Squeeze Your Head I'm Sorry," I'm a consultant for Special Olympics of Michigan for how to build a space that's inclusive for people of all abilities, I'm a regular guest on a podcast called, "You Don't Want a Hug...Right," I've worked for Spartan Nash for two years, and I have a 3.4 GPA at Forest Hills Northern. I didn't think I would ever drive a car but I just got my license and just last week I was accepted into a college for neurodivergent learners called Beacon College in Leesburg, Florida. My parents are really proud and I am too. This college will help me learn how to become an independent adult with my social skills, my living skills, and will teach me how to work with animals in their Anthrozoology major. The tuition is $70,000 per year, so I have a lot of work to do to get myself there. Sarah has cut my hair for so many years and she has watched me grow up and get really tall and do lots of amazing things. As my mom says, having good looking hair has helped me socially. Hah hah. My wish is to go to Beacon College and I hope you can help me get there. Thank you!
