Oxford House Relocation

Wicked Awesome Wishes spearheaded the effort to help the Recovery Association (FORA), the advocacy and outreach agency for all Oxford House homes in Kansas.

Oxford Houses currently have 223 houses in Kansas, providing safe, democratically self-run, self-supported, and drug-free sober living for individuals recovering from alcoholism and drug addiction.

The Oxford House Rita, is a women’s recovery home that houses eight women in recovery in Wichita. KS. Due to serious and ongoing issues with the landlord, who has refused to make the property safe and habitable, the house had to relocate immediately to ensure the safety and stability of its members.  WAW provided emergency funding to secure a new lease, cover deposits, and manage moving expenses preventing these 8 women from becoming homeless.  Stable housing is critical to maintaining sobriety, and sudden displacement significantly increases the risk of relapse.
